The West Africa Regional IPM Network is a collaboration of U.S. and host country partners in research and outreach activities designed to
improve the quality of the environments and the livelihoods of rural agricultural households in the five participating countries.
The project is a continuation of research activities carried out over the previous 11 years in the West Africa Integrated Pest Management
Collaborative Research Support Program (IPM CRSP). Mali remains the hub of the program, but activities have expanded to Burkina Faso, The Gambia,
Guinea, and Senegal resulting in a new regionally-integrated program that reflects the expectation by USAID and the IPM CRSP Management Entity that
the new programs truly have regional impact.
The goals of the West Africa Regional IPM Network are to:
Develop and promote the use of Integrated Pest Management systems for insects, weeds, and diseases in agricultural crop production.
Develop a quality assurance program to promote pesticide safety education and the improvement of pesticide residue analytical capabilities in
West Africa.
Facilitate capacity building through technology transfer and education at all levels, including university-level training.
